Shiba Inu Rescue Association (SIRA) is a volunteer organization dedicated to saving abandoned, neglected, and abused Shiba Inu, Shiba mixes and other primitive breeds from commercial breeders, shelters and owners.  We evaluate each dog for temperament and place them in nurturing foster homes where their needs, medical and otherwise, are addressed in order to prepare them to be placed in thoroughly screened, loving, lifelong forever homes.  SIRA also works to educate the public on the Shiba Inu breed in addition to the importance of responsible pet ownership including spaying/ neutering, dog training and obtaining a dog from a reputable breeder or rescue group.

Shiba Inu Rescue Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in the Midwest.

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS WHO USE SIRA'S NAME! It has come to our attention again that there are scammers out there who pose as SIRA and pretend to arrange for dogs to be adopted and delivered. PLEASE KNOW that SIRA only works within the Midwest U.S.. We never charge adopters delivery fees or boarding fees. We never ask for cash or any fees up front.  We are a non-profit 501c3 Charitable Organization. We have one process to adopt - and that is always spelled out in our posts. Adopters first apply to become approved to adopt. The application is on our website - www.savingshibas.com. If you don't go through this process, you are NOT working with SIRA. We are so sad for the people being scammed and those who have lost money and have had their hearts broken. We are angry and frustrated that those scammers are doing so under the guise of a reputable rescue group.
