Waiting for her perfect family!
December 20, 2008

Takara is ready to please! Once you meet Takara, you will fall in love. She has been named the official "greeter" of our Shiba meetup group. She does wonderful when taken to a dog park. She tends to hang around the humans and draw them in with her loving stare. She loves to be doted on and will lay on your lap all evening(as long as you are petting her). She loves to run outside. She loves romping around the backyard with our other dogs and is always in for a good game of "chase the puppy."

Takara does very well on a leasch when a halter is used and has the "sit" command down. For treats of course.

Once you meet Takara, her gaze will draw you in. She is such a sweet Shiba girl and she deserves a loving family that will spoil and pet her all day long.

Takara is ready to meet her forever family!
October 17, 2008

Takara has taken to life as a house pet extremely well. She enjoys being the center of attention and being petted all day long. She loves to run and play outside. She will spend hours running and playing. She is getting better on her leash. Her new family will stil need to work with her(She is still a hard headed Shiba). She is still so curious about everything when she gets walking. She loves to explore!! She has not met a human she does not adore. She will expect attention from everyone she meets. She has improved so much with her door bolting. The only door she will bolt through at our house is the back door, and she knows that is where she goes outside. She stands back away from the front door and waits patiently for us to come in the door or out. This is has been such a great success for her! Takara is going to do so great in a home that can give her all the attention and love she deserves and craves.

Meet Takara!
August 05, 2008

Takara, like 4 other Shibas, was brought to us from another rescue group.  She had been dumped there from a puppy mill.  Although she has not experienced the luxuries of life outside of a kennel, she is taking to it very well.  She is extremely eager to please and is an absolute joy to be around.  From the first time we met her, her curly little tail as been above her back and wagging.  Takara will give you kisses all day long if you let her.  She does not enjoy going into her kennel and does not use it as a refuge.  She is eager to take on any challenge.

Like any Shiba she loves her toys and every toy is hers.  She is curious about everything and thinks everything is a toy, especially plastic water bottles.  She has been chasing balls, but does not know what to do with them after she gets them.  Takara improves daily with her leash training.  She loves to explore and meet new people.  Every person she meets is her new best friend.  She will do anything for a treat, even a little dance J

She is very outgoing to people, but a little more timid with other dogs.  She enjoys being the center of attention and does not like to see that attention spent on anyone else.  She currently lives with another Shiba and a larger Shepard/hound mix.  We feel that she would do best in a home with a calm dog or as an only dog.  She does well with other dogs when she is watched, but gets a little grumpy.

Just like any Shiba, she is very fast and will try and escape out the door any chance she gets.  She has begun to show us that she is an escape artist, so she must be leashed in a secure area at all times.  Her new family will need to understand that Takara is still learning and will need to commit to helping her with her manners.

Takara is truly that, a treasure.  She is going to make one family extremely happy.  She will make an excellent movie watching buddy and snuggle up next to you on the couch or in your lap on a chair.  She will also make a great companion for a walk in the park.  If you are looking for a dog to greet you at the door after being away with a smile, wag of the tail, and little whimper, Takara is your girl.
