Update on Rosalie's Health
August 24th, 2010
August 24th, 2010
Rosalie has been treating for a severe UTI for the past few months and now she is finally clear of infection. The vet believes this was caused by years of untreated incontinence. Currently she is taking 1/2 a pill of Proin two times a day and it is controlling the leaking very well. This medicine can be purchased for under $10 for a 30 day supply. She will probably need to be on this medication for the rest of her life. Because of the incontinence she is susceptible to UTIs and may occasionally need antibiotics to treat for an infection.
Otherwise Rosalie is a happy girl! She loves her people, is starting to play more and more, and she loves giving kisses and being snuggled. She is going to make an excellent companion for a family with a quiet home that is willing to take her on long walks. That is one of her favorite things to do!

What a year it has been for sweet little Rosalie! After being rescued for a puppy mill in December of 2008 she was tentatively diagnosed with an ectopic ureter. During tests to determine for sure if she had an ectopic ureter it was discovered that Rosalie had a severe case of heartworm. She has undergone more than 6 months of treatment clearing her of the parasites. Rosalie can now continue with her tests to determine the cause of her urine leakage and UTIs. Hopefully in a month we will have a definite diagnosis. So after more than a full year of vet care Rosalie will hopefully have a clean bill of health and be ready for a forever home of her own.
Personality wise you could not find a sweeter more loving dog. A year in foster care has done wonders for her confidence. She now sings for her supper, sings for attention, and is full of tail wags and kisses. She is so different from the reserved girl that came to us more than a year ago. Though she's not too into playing with toys, she loves to cuddle with them. In fact if you give her a soft toy, a bed and blanket she is as happy as can be. She LOVES to chew chewies and will amuse her self for hours with one.
Rosalie would do wonderfully as an only dog or with one other calm companion dog. She is not fond of being jumped on by rambunctious puppies or adolescent dogs, and is not shy about expressing her opinion at them with a nice loud Shiba scream. She is very much enjoying her retirement from the years of raising puppies and we want to give her that quiet life going forward.
Rosalie is excellent with cats and small pets that ignore her. She has little to no prey drive inside the home. In fact she has not shown much interest in squirrels and birds outside either.
Rosalie would do fine in a home with gentle children. She is not a hard player, but instead prefers to be held and cuddled. She truly is a sweet girl deserving of a loving forever home!
