Meet Ichigo!
August 15, 2008
Ichigo can be described in one word; "Prince!" He is petit and thoroughly enjoys being snuggled and doted on. We know for sure he is at least half Shiba. We believe the other half is Jack Russell Terrier. The poor little boy was dumped by his previous owners because theydid not have the time or energy to care for an active puppy. There is no one that is a stranger to Ichigo! He just loves to be the center of attention! For the time being he loves to be carried. This may change as he gets older though.
Ichigo's potty and leash training are progressing well. He understands that outside is where he is supposed to do his business, and when kept to a schedule accidents have been minimal. As with most puppies Ichigo must be taken outside every 3-4 hours. However he is very good about sleeping through the night.
Ichigo has done very well with other dogs. He is very playful and friendly. He will be happiest in a home where he has another playful, yet gentle dog. Ichigo has also not shown any interest in chasing our cat. He could be placed in a home with a cat that is dog-friendly.
Ichigo thrives from being the center of attention. He would do great in a home with dog-savvy, gentle children over the age of 10. Like most Shibas and Shiba mixes, Ichigo will bolt out a door if he sees an opportunity, so care must ALWAYS be taken around doors especially as he enters the adolescent stage.
In order to be considered for Ichigo you must be committed to taking him to positive based obedience classes. Training is a very important part of the bonding process between rescue dogs and their new family and will help Ichigo learn to be a well mannered member of the family.
This sweet little Shiba boy needs a forever home that will give her the love and security he deserves. Please complete an application and indicate your interest in him. Ichigo isn't going to be available long!
